Wealth and Money
The most common form of wealth exists as Coins. Although they appear to be composed of simple metals of increasing rarity, they are actually System-generated constructs composed of unique ratios of different sources of energy, such as mana, qi, and pneuma.
Although they come in many shapes, sizes, and imprints, true Coins created by the System are always of equal value to other Coins of the same denomination and are impossible to counterfeit. Even a simple layman can tell the difference between System-generated Coins and any other form of local currency.
The most common types of Coin in increasing value are the Bronze Pip (BP), Silver Plugs (SP), Gold Pog (GP), and the Platinum Coin (PC). Each denomination of Coin is worth 100 of the previous denomination. So, 1 GP is worth 100 SP or 10,000 BP.
While Coins are useful as currency for buying, selling, and wages, they can also be absorbed directly, converting into a number of Experience Points equal to their value in Bronze Pips.
Inventory, Bulk, and Carrying Capacity
Inventory Space
Each individual possesses Inventory Space equal to their Might plus their Fortitude, with a minimum of 2. This is the number of items that an individual can easily carry around on their person without hindrance. An individual cannot typically carry items with Bulk (see below) in excess of their total Inventory Space, but some objects, such as backpacks, add additional Inventory Space.
Note that the Bulk of worn gear (clothing, armor, held weapons or items, and so forth) doesn’t count against against Inventory Space. Only objects stuck in pockets, attached to the belt, or otherwise carried but not actively used counts against Inventory Space.
Object Bulk
An individual can only carry so much before becoming overburdened. The weight and volume of items and equipment are measured with a single number called Bulk. Items with different weights may have the same Bulk if the lighter object takes considerably more physical space than the heavier one. For example, a 5kg sack of flour might have the same Bulk as a 2kg down-filled blanket, because the blanket takes up more space.
Each unit of Bulk takes up one Inventory Space.
Maximum Carrying Capacity
Each individual has a maximum carrying capacity for equipment and carried objects beyond which they simply do not have the strength and endurance to carry around and still function. This amount is equal to the individual’s Might plus their Fortitude multiplied by 10. This includes the Bulk of all worn and equipped gear as well as any carried objects.
An individual who carries a total combined equipment Bulk more than half of this maximum becomes Lightly Burdened. This Status has no negative effects, but it may limit the use of certain Abilities or Actions.
When an individual carries more than carrying capacity, they become Heavily Burdened. An individual who carries more than their maximum capacity receives Disadvantage 1 on all Checks and their Movement speed is reduced by 1 for every 5 additional Bulk carried, rounded up. So, for example, an individual with a maximum carrying capacity of 70 who has a total combined equipment Bulk of 86 will suffer Disadvantage 4 on all Checks and their Movement will be reduced by 4.
When the combined total Bulk reduces an individual’s Movement speed to 0, they become Overburdened. They are unable to move and automatically fail any Movement or Attack Checks.
