System Classes

A System Class is a profession, occupation, job, or system of training formally recognized by The System. Each Class is effectively a collection of Class-Exclusive Abilities (those Abilities unique to that Class) that define how an individual primarily interacts with the world around them. It’s generally not possible to have more than one Class.

The System offers the same four basic Classes across most Realms. While there are a few exceptions, these four Classes are the only options that the vast majority of individuals will have available as their first choice: Warrior, Mage, Scout, and Laborer.

Class Details

Special Actions

Each System Class may grant one or more Special Actions. These are improved versions of Basic Actions or other extremely basic skills that serve as an introduction to the Class and allow the Class to function even when an individual’s Abilities are not useful to them. These usually include a basic means of attacking.

As a type of Basic Action, Special Actions can be performed using the Count from any Ability that is the same Ability Type as the Special Action.

Special Actions cannot be advanced or improved upon, so very few individuals use Special Actions after they gain a relevant Ability.

Class Traits

Some Classes grant one or more special Traits to individuals who take that Class. These Traits are always active for an individual who possesses them, and the benefits of a Class Trait are cumulative with all other benefits.

These Traits are immediately lost if an individual changes Classes, but the individual immediately gains any Class Traits granted by their new Class.

Class-Exclusive Abilities

Each Class grants an individual access to a number of Abilities exclusive to that particular Class. These are randomly selected from all available class-exclusive Abilities in additional to General Abilities. (You’re also free to just choose which Abilities are available to you if you want to be boring about it.)

It’s possible for an individual to learn other Abilities exclusive to their class, but they either need to find someone who already knows the Ability to teach them or wait for the Ability to be provided by The System.

Should an individual change Classes, they lose access to all class-exclusive Abilities and gain access to new Abilities appropriate to their new Class. Ranks in class-exclusive Abilities aren’t lost, but the Abilities ca no longer be used. General Abilities aren’t affected by changing Class.

Advanced Classes and Specialization

As one advances, they may gain the ability to improve their Basic Class through a Class Specialization or Advanced Class.

A Class Specialization is considered the same as the Basic Class for most purposes and has access to most of the same class-exclusive Abilities in addition to a few specialization-exclusive Abilities and Augments.

On the other hand, an Advanced Class is a completely different class with its own set of class-exclusive Abilities and may even have its own Specializations available.
